“One of Nashville’s best-kept secrets, Billy Smith is a fine guitarist and singer, but his greatest strength reveals itself in the string of classically simple but elegant bluegrass and acoustic country songs he’s written over the past two decades.” “I enjoy looking into Billy’s eyes, seeing the fire he has in his heart that comes out in his music. Great stuff on this cd.” “You know you can’t write songs with just anybody. It takes a special person with whom you can bare your soul Billy is one of that rare breed. Not only do we admire his creativity, we enjoy his picking and singing, too and we treasure his friendship.” “Billy . . . is a walking, talking bluegrass poet who breathes song ideas in and out like the rest of us breathe air. “ Find more about Billy and his new album 'FIve Flat Rocks' at Muddy Sunshine |

Hello, I'm Rocky Alvey of the label Muddy Sunshine. There are very few things in life that one can really grab hold of and believe in. I want you to know that I believe in Billy Smith and his music. Billy won't toot his own horn, so I've put up a list of his song cuts, (the list grows daily.) I am honored and proud to have Billy on our label. I think he is one of the purest voices and most talented songwriters alive. Billy cut his teeth in Nashville with the likes of Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin and many others who are the icons of bluegrass and country music. I think he is an icon in his own right. His new album is called "Five Flat Rocks." The players on the album are some of Nashville's Finest. You may not have heard of Billy till now as he has been behind the scenes writing the music you love, but in the summer of 2008 he is stepping out on own and I am confident you will thoroughly enjoy what you are about to hear!
